The combined work of operators and machinery of the City Council of Cartagena and Costas has allowed the removal of 175 tons of algae from the beaches of the south of the Mar Menor in the last weeks of work, as reported by the vice mayor,  Noelia Arroyo , after supervising the works that are being carried out in the area.

Arroyo recalled that the succession of storms, the last one just a month ago, has caused damage to the sand that has forced extraordinary work by the administration’s devices.

“We have worked in the conditioning of the sand and in the cleaning of algae. It is a job that must continue because the sea is returning seaweed quickly, especially in the area of Punta Brava and Los Urrutias, ”said the vice mayor, who recalled that“ the beaches of Villas Caravaning and Playa Paraíso are finished and hopefully the storms respect them and that you don’t have to do more work on them than maintenance. ”

Arroyo, who has been accompanied by the councilors of Decentralization, Diego Ortega , Education, Irene Ruiz , and Tourism, Cristina Pérez, has checked the status of the work in Los Urrutias .

The councilors have greeted the people of the ISOL association of psychosocial rehabilitationthat, through an agreement with the Department of Education, is performing maintenance on the wall of the promenade of Punta Brava and Los Urrutias, with its painting and arrangement, in addition to painting the lamp posts, repairing flower pots and acting in tree beds and planters. These works will also continue on the promenade of Playa Honda.

Accompanied by the neighborhood president of Los NietosNani Vergara, the vice mayor has visited the streets where the emergency asphalting work has begun, which the City Council has decided to undertake in the most deteriorated areas “while we have an approved budget for the large asphalting campaign that is needed in the area . ”
