Access to Cabo de Palos by the new roundabout will be open in December.
The Council of Security of the City of Cartagena, Francisco Aznar, and the General Director of Highways, José Antonio Fernández , visited the restart of the construction works of the round in the highway of La Manga (RM-12) to the entrance of Cabo de Palos on Wednesday 4th.
The project will provide a second access to this locality, in addition to an area of business and commercial expansion, while also allowing the large influx of traffic to Cabo de Palos and La Manga generated on this road, with almost 21,000 vehicles a day on average, reaching in summer tips of up to 100,000 vehicles , explained Fernandez.
The works, which began before summer with preliminary actions for the diversion of services of supply, sanitation and electricity, had been put on hold in summer to avoid discomfort in the months of increased traffic, and now are resumed, hoping to be completed in late November or early December.
This action is carried out in coordination with the city council , as pointed out by Francisco Aznar, there has been a close collaboration with the Police when it comes to controlling the traffic due to the detours caused by such a work.
The new roundabout has an outside diameter of 45 meters and an interior of 30 meters s, and will have three lanes of circulation of 4 meters each . The investment in this project amounts to 242,000 euros.
