The boat of the Real Club de Regattas de Cartagena The Carmen-Elite Sails was proclaimed this Saturday, August 3, champion of the 38th Sailing King’s Cup, played in the waters of the bay of Palma de Mallorca.

For six days, the crew and the sailboat, patronized by the Cartagena coach José Coello Núñez, remained in the lead, competing against the best ships in the world in the ORC 2 class.

José Coello, passionate about sailing, has competed with the same boat in four editions of the Copa del Rey, climbing to the podium three times (2015, 2017, 2018). Now this effort of Coello and his crew has had its reward, writing an outstanding page in the history of regional sport as winners of the prestigious regatta.

The awards ceremony took place on Saturday afternoon at the Royal Yacht Club of Palma, King Felipe VI giving the trophy to the brand new champions.
