The Ministry of the Presidency and Development puts into service a new roundabout on the highway of La Manga (RM-12), to improve entry to Cabo de Palos, and ease the flow of traffic that passes through this area, close to the shopping center of Las Dunes. It is an action promoted by the private initiative, which has involved an investment of 240,000 euros.
This was explained today by the Secretary General of the Ministry of the Presidency and Development, Yolanda Muñoz, during the ceremony held with entrepreneurs promoting the work and neighborhood associations of Cabo de Palos, which highlighted “the advantages of public and private collaboration for the start-up of new infrastructures, because we act as partners in the same project “.
Yolanda Muñoz recalled that, by virtue of an agreement, the Autonomous Community assumed the execution of the works while the private initiative financed its construction, and highlighted the double benefit of this action because “we promote business opportunities for entrepreneurs, at the same time that we improve the public services that citizens enjoy “.
The general secretary stressed the importance of this action in the fast lane of La Manga, which has the most traffic within the regional network of roads, with a volume of 20,854 vehicles on average daily, exceeding 30,000 in summer and that last summer registered up to 100,000 vehicles per day.
The action carried out by the General Directorate of Roads has consisted in the construction of a circular roundabout, at kilometer 8 of the aforementioned highway, with an outside diameter of 45 meters and an interior diameter of 30 meters, which makes it possible to have two lanes of circulation four meters wide each and shoulders one meter outside and 0.50 meters inside.
