The Local Police of Cartagena will carry out, in collaboration with the General Directorate of Traffic , from the 3rd to the 9th of June , a monitoring and control campaign for alcohol and drugs while driving, in the municipality of Cartagena .
The Road Safety Law is very strict regarding the use of narcotics, therefore, prohibits driving with the presence of drugs in the body , although substances that are used under medical prescription and for therapeutic purposes are excluded . The criminal code
provides for drivers who circulate under the influence of alcoholic beverages, toxic drugs, narcotics or psychotropic substances, prison terms of three to six months , fine of six to twelve months or work for the benefit of the community from thirty – one to ninety days , and, in any case, that of deprivation of the right to drive motor vehiclesand mopeds for more than one and up to four years .
The Road Safety Law, the General Circulation Regulations and the Criminal Code establish the regulations applicable to the generic and specific maximum limits of alcohol allowed during driving, where non-compliance with these rules is classified as a serious or very serious offense , withdrawn from the driving license and prison sentence .
