The new airport starts WITHOUT a connection with La Manga

The Councilor for Tourism, David Martínez Noguera, criticized today, Friday January 18, the lack of commitment of the regional government with Cartagena during the presentation of the bus lines that will connect the Corvera airport with municipalities of the region.

The main criticism lies in the price difference between the bus ticket to Cartagena and Murcia, which, with two minutes of difference, costs one euro more . “I find it at least curious that the counselor said in his presentation that the ticket to Murcia lasts 30 minutes and will cost 5 euros and to Cartagena it costs 6 euros for 2 minutes of difference. This does not encourage a resident a or a tourist who wants to come to Cartagena to use the bus because it is expensive, “said the mayor.

It should be remembered that the Murcia-Cartagena regular line, which practically doubles the travel time from the airport, costs 4.75 euros.

In addition, while the regional government is going to start a line to San Pedro del Pinatar and San Javier and another that connects with Los Narejos, Los Alcázares and all the macrourbanizaciones of that area, there is not a single line from the airport with any Cartagena town of the Mar Menor, nor with La Manga or with the most important tourist complex in the whole region that is La Manga Club and that, curiously, is where the greatest number of Britons, Germans and French live in the area.

“The regional government has decided to start up an airport without any connection to La Manga, despite the fact that we are talking about the town that hosts more than half of the hotel beds along the coast of this Autonomous Community,” he said. Specifically, La Manga currently has 4,486 hotel rooms compared to 4,449 which add the rest of coastal municipalities such as Águilas, Mazarrón, Los Alcázares, San Pedro del Pinatar and San Javier.

Nor is there a connection with the urbanization Estrella de Mar, located next to Los Urrutias, which has an important colony of Belgians who live here all year and who could take advantage of one of the few destinations from Corvera, i.e. Brussels.
