The Cartagena Local Police has launched this Monday, July 6, a campaign to monitor and control speed limits in vehicles, in collaboration with the General Directorate of Traffic and will be carrying out controls until next July 12.
These controls will be carried out in different parts of the city , preferably in neighborhoods and county councils.

The Road Safety Law and the General Traffic Regulations establish the regulations applicable to generic and specific speed limits, overtaking speed and distances between vehicles. Failure to comply with these rules is classified as a serious or very serious offense , punished with fines of 100 to 600 euros.
The article 379 of the Penal Code states that “one who condujeremotor vehicle or moped at a speed greater than sixty kilometers per hour on urban roads or eighty kilometers per hour on interurban roads to that legally permitted, will be punished with a prison sentence of three to six months or a fine of six to twelve months and works for the benefit of the community from thirty-one to ninety days, and, in any case, to the deprivation of the right to drive motor vehicles and mopeds for a period exceeding one and up to four years . ”
