Yellow and orange notices for Monday 2nd & Tuesday 3rd December in Cartagena due to rainfall and coastal phenomena

The State Meteorological Agency (AEMET) has established yellow and orange notices for the next few hours in the municipality of Cartagena before the forecasts of strong winds on the coast and heavy rains in the municipality, which during Tuesday, December 3, they could reach accumulated in 12 hours of 100 liters per square meter and wind gusts from the northeast of force 7 to 8 with waves of 4 meters high .

According to the forecasts of the AEMET the weather will worsen around eight o’clock on Monday night, December 2,  when theYellow notice until 12 at night . In this time interval, rainfall of up to 25 liters per square meter in one hour and 80 liters in 12 hours could be recorded .

The situation could get worse from 0 hours on Tuesday and until 0 hours on Wednesday , when an orange warning will be activated , due to heavy rains of up to 100 liters per square meter in 12 hours.

Also  northeast wind and waves on the coast, with gusts of more than 70 kilometers per hour and waves of 4 meters , from six in the morning to six in the afternoon on Tuesday.

Before these forecasts and notices, from theFire Fighting, Rescue and Civil Protection Service (SIX) of the City of Cartagena , recalls the usual recommendations such as reducing displacement ; check downspouts and sinks;  Do not park on channels or try to cross flooded areas .

It is also recommended not to approach the coast, due to the danger of being dragged by the waves;  hold or remove from the facades those elements that can be carried by the wind, such as awnings or pots, and avoid traveling through places where branches or objects can fall from buildings or walls.
